Ohio Board of Regents supervises Ohio's Ohio State High School. The system has been criticised in recent years because it has contributed to overlaps and dismissals in the higher educational system. Ohio's governmental system of higher learning includes support for nine PhD programmes in the field of physics and five faculties of jurisprudence, while four different Ohio government colleges run Ohio airfields and provide aeronautical programmes.

The system was also praised for the creation of efficient utilities such as OhioLINK and the Ohio Supercomputer Center, which enable universities to work together and significantly increase efficiency. There is a new Credential Transfers Programme to facilitate transfers between Ohio's Ohio institutions and provide Ohio college graduates with a pre-view of academics.

Of the 13 state-run colleges, 11 lead the country's enrolment figures. There are two relatively small non-profit organizations - Shawnee State and Central State Schools. The Case Western Reserve is the state's biggest privately funded institution, followed by the Univerity of Dayton, Ashland Univeristy, Franklin Univeristy and Xavier U. See Collegiate Countries:
