Dear Readers,

It should be noted that while the letter mentions an internal panel clearing the Vice Chancellor - we reject this as credible evidence that the claims are false.
We call on the univeristy to release a copy of the thesis.
We would like to stress that the vice chancellor may well be innocent. That said It would seem that the actual thesis in question has been taken out of circulation. It should also be noted that a request to gain access to the thesis in question was denied by Strathclyde university.
This being the case: Unless the university and Dr McDonald release the thesis for independent inspection we can not make a determination as to one way or the other.
The details of the thesis are as follows:
Title: On spot-pricing based electricity tariffs and the modeling of consumer load response / James R. McDonald. Author(s): McDonald, James R. University of Strathclyde. Dept. of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
Publication Details: 1990. Notes: Thesis
[Ph. D.] -- University of Strathclyde, 1990. Thesis no.: T6731.
Class Number: T6731
We republish material unedited.
